Backpack

Description: Soft storage worn on back, with water resistant fabric and plenty of pockets for most items. Worn correctly, a backpack leverages the wearer's strength to carry more than otherwise possible. Backpacks are rated in size (small, medium, large, etc.), weight possible to carry, and the leverage potential of the bag (based upon the design). Each size category can hold the equivalent of 1 cubic foot of stuff more than the previous category. Leverage is rated in a ratio, such as 2:1 -- Indicating that the backpack leverage every 2 pounds to feel like 1 pound. Use common sense here: the _DCC RPG_ (p. 70) indicated characters cannot carry more than half their body weight. Hide Show

Bivouac

Description: 1-person test and sleeping bag combined. Provides +1d10 RBC shielding. Characters can recuperate in a bivouac tent from the fatigue suffered from wearing RBC or space suits. This tent can be staked to the ground, slung between trees or building supports, or even hung from climbing cord hundreds of feet in the air. Gun Block

Description: A set of pulleys mounted on a frame is a block and an assembly of blocks with cord threaded through the pulley is a tackle. This device reduces the amount of effort it takes to lift and move an object using mechanical advantage. This mechanical advantage increases based on the number of pulleys used in the tackle. For example, a Luff block uses a block with a single fixed pulley and a moveable block with two pulleys to achieve the mechanical advantage of 3. Multiply mechanical advantage by the lift distance to determine the total cord necessary to perform the lift. For example, to lift an item 200' with a gun block requires 400' of cord. _Table 2-@@: Equipment, general_ indicates that the mechanical advantage, maximum breaking strength of the blocks, and cost multiplier.
